Woah. So I've been trying to clean up my internet footprint for the past couple of days (long story...sort of), and lo and behold, what do I find? My dear old blog. I had almost forgotten about this little guy. I must say though, in reading my old posts on here, I sure wrote a whole lot of garbage back in the day! (You may be asking, "what posts?" Well, they are all now long deleted--trust me, that's a good thing).
While I would like to think I'm years older and wiser now than I was back then, I'm not entirely sure that's actually a completely accurate statement, hah (this will have to be the topic of a future post). But hey, as the quote that begins this post suggests, I think this will be a good opportunity to get back into writing again (of course, in the process, I will probably end up muddying the aforementioned internet footprint that I'm trying to clean up, hah).
I miss writing though, it really is cathartic (and Lord knows, I have built up quite a bit of anger/hostility during my call nights...). I think with the evolution of Facebook and other social media, the art of writing has really taken a hit. The last time I really consistently wrote, it was back in medical school for the McGovern Humanities Program, where he had to write about our experiences on the wards. It was a great way to really process everything that was happening. After all, as doctors, we see some pretty messed up things. You can't keep that stuff bottled up, especially early on in your career (you know, before you've been hardened by all the years of bureaucratic BS and training).
Fortunately for me though, I'm on a neuro-ophthalmology rotation right now and thus have little to no curmudgeonliness to unload. This is unfortunate for you, my reader, however, as this doesn't make for very good reading...
